International Nurses Day

0

It was great to see some of our staff on Friday night to join us for some drinks and nibbles to celebrate International Nurses Day. One of our lucky nurses took a hamper home and hopefully everyone had a good time. We always love seeing our staff and it’s always good for them to put faces to the voices they speak to every day.

Winter is certainly on the way here in Melbourne or maybe is already here judging by the weather on the weekend. With winter comes increased demand from the hospitals and facilities for staff and so we need to make sure staff availabilities are up to date so we can quickly allocate staff into shifts.

Winter is here

0

With Easter now over and just a few remaining lots of chocolate to tempt us here in the VNS office we are getting ready for winter. We had some of our lovely nurses drop in Easter eggs to us last week which we all enjoyed. It’s always lovely to see people in person and put faces to names we speak to on a regular basis but perhaps have never met in person.

With rain and suddenly cooler weather and the days being shorter we cannot help but think winter is finally really here. Winter means busy times for us and so as always we will be calling people to fill the shifts coming in. We also have International Nurses Day coming up soon. Watch this space for details of what we are planning for the day.

Aged Care – what’s new?

0

Last week I attended the ACCV’s Tri -State conference in Albury. The theme of the conference was ‘the new frontier’ and was a sold out event with people from all aspects of aged residential and community care attending. With a diverse offering of sessions available I really enjoyed the sessions on social media and workforce planning. It was great to hear from some truly inspirational leaders in aged care talking about how they are tackling the challenges of making sure they have a workforce of the future. VNS is committed to making sure we understand the needs of our clients and future workforce issues in turn will have effect upon us and so thus I was attending the conference.

Some leading organisations also presented us with projects and social engagement initiatives they are undertaking for their residents such as film making and storytelling as well as major events for hundreds of residents at Melbourne Park. It was amazing to see what is happening out there and the difference people are making to the lives of those they care for.

It was lovely to catch up with some VNS clients away from the office and I am sure they enjoyed the conference just as much as I did.

Happy New Year from VNS

0

Happy New Year ! It’s just 2 weeks into the new year and already Christmas is becoming a distant memory . With the weather so unpredictable at the moment it’s also making it hard to remember we are actually in the middle of summer.

We have been working hard throughout the holiday period to keep all our clients staffed and our staff in work and now are focused on the year ahead. It’s  been busy here in the office as we have seen increased bookings as compared to this time of the year normally. So to all of our staff – keep us informed with your availabilities as we have work coming in.

VNS is looking forward to another successful year and working with all of our valued clients and also will be looking to broaden our opportunities for our staff with new clients and new locations.  If you are looking for a break away from Melbourne and the chance to explore new areas – give us a call as we are sourcing contract work as another option for our staff.

Christmas is almost here

0

With less than 2 weeks now to Christmas we are flat out trying to fill all of the shifts coming in from facilities across Melbourne in what is always a busy time.  If you are looking for some extra money for Christmas call us now for a shift!

We’re also getting into the festive season with social events. On Friday night the VNS office enjoyed dinner out at a winery to celebrate Christmas together. Our party for all of our nurses 2 weeks ago was a great success with a great turnout enjoying the venue and fantastic food and drinks. We had one lucky winner of our door prize which was a hamper. Many of us in the office liked the contents of the hamper and so it was lucky to make it to the party.

Countdown to Christmas already?

0

Suddenly Christmas is just around the corner it seems. With Christmas decorations going up around Melbourne and the television full of Christmas ads we can’t ignore it any more. Christmas is coming soon.

We’re getting lots of rsvp’s for the VNS Christmas party on December 1st and we are looking forward to seeing all of our staff . We’re trying to make sure we get as many of the staff along –  so spread the word to other VNS nurses, pca’s and allied health staff to call and rsvp if they haven’t already. We’ve got a great venue that the office staff tried a few months ago so it promises to be a good night.

As always we will be on the look out for staff available for us during this busy period – if you need some extra money for Christmas give us a call as we would love to hear from you!
