Hear from VNS Endorsed Enrolled Nurse (EEN), Malkit. Malkit is currently studying a Bachelor of Nursing and finds agency nursing a great work/life balance for work and studies.
What do you love most about the job/ working with VNS?
I have been with VNS for the last 2 years. VNS staff are very professional and they treat their nurses in a very friendly manner. VNS always have a large number of shifts in different hospitals and diverse wards. Also (as I am studying), I am able to choose shifts that work around my classes and facilities. These are often close to me so I can spend time with my family and spend adequate time on my studies. Flexibility is the biggest benefit for agency nurses. VNS is very caring and respectful towards their staff. The VNS app is very transparent and easy to use. I am a proud member of VNS.
What is your nursing specialty and what facilities/locations do you usually work at?
I am an Endorsed Enrolled nurse. Usually, I work in acute surgical wards, general medical wards and mental health wards around Melbourne.
Do you enjoy the flexibility of picking and choosing shifts that suit your family and/or lifestyle?
Flexibility is one of the biggest benefits of working with VNS nursing agency. I do like the work with this agency because I am currently studying a Bachelor of Nursing and my class schedule changes with every unit. VNS help me to manage my work and studies by providing a range of different shifts AM, PM and ND.
Describe a rewarding experience you’ve had whilst working with VNS?
Working with VNS is rewarding in itself. I have met so many nurses in different hospitals. Some of them worked with VNS before and some are still working with VNS.
What advice would you give to other nurses looking for an agency role?
If you want to give yourself exposure in different hospitals wards and different facilities and need flexibility and independence… join VNS.
